Solitaire has been live for a couple of days, and the most common feeling after a loss is "that was just a bad deal". Sometimes it is. More often, one early move decided the game. So we've written a Solitaire strategy guide.

Five habits to start with
- Uncover face-down cards first. When you have a choice, pick the move that turns a card over. Start with the column that has the most hidden cards.
- Make your tableau moves before drawing. A tableau move can open a spot for the next waste card.
- Don't rush cards to the foundations. A card on the foundation can't hold anything in the tableau any more. It's safe to send one home once both opposite-colour cards one rank lower are already there.
- Don't empty a column without a King to fill it. An empty column only takes a King.
- Use Undo. Trying a line and backing out is how you learn which moves matter.
The guide goes further, covering which King to move into a space and how to work the stock in draw 3.
Try it on a deal you lost
Every game has a deal number. Tap it to replay a deal, or press Restart, and try the guide's ideas on a game you know you lost.
