Game number three: FreeCell.
Why FreeCell is different
In most solitaire games, luck decides a lot. FreeCell deals all 52 cards face up from the start, so nothing is hidden. If you lose, there was almost always a way to win. That makes it the most "puzzle-like" game on the site.
The rules in short
- Build the four foundations from Ace to King, one suit each.
- In the eight columns, build down in alternating colours.
- The four free cells at the top left each hold one card while you work.
- Any card can go into an empty column.
Little things that save clicks
- Moving groups. Officially you move one card at a time. We let you move a whole ordered group at once whenever your free cells and empty columns could have moved it card by card.
- Auto-play. Cards that are safe to play are sent to the foundations for you, as soon as nothing else could need them.
- Tap to move. Tap a card and it goes to a foundation, then to a column it fits on, then to a free cell.
