Just Play Cards now comes in two Chinese editions:
The games, buttons, rules, FAQs and strategy guides are all translated. Card names are read out in Chinese too, so screen readers say the right thing. Deal numbers are the same in every language, so you can send a friend in Taipei the same Solitaire deal you just played.
Start with the favourites
| Game | Simplified | Traditional |
|---|---|---|
| Solitaire | 纸牌接龙 | 接龍 |
| Spider Solitaire | 蜘蛛纸牌 | 蜘蛛接龍 |
| FreeCell | 空当接龙 | 新接龍 |
| Pyramid | 金字塔纸牌 | 金字塔接龍 |
| TriPeaks | 三峰纸牌 | 三峰接龍 |
| Golf Solitaire | 高尔夫纸牌 | 高爾夫接龍 |
Every game has its strategy guide translated as well, for example the Solitaire guide in Simplified Chinese and the FreeCell guide in Traditional Chinese.
Two editions, not one
Simplified and Traditional Chinese aren't just different characters. Some words differ too. In Taiwan, for instance, 列 means a row, so the Traditional edition calls a column 疊 (a stack) instead. The games also keep their familiar names in each place: Solitaire is 纸牌接龙 in the Simplified edition and 接龍 in the Traditional one.
Switching languages
Every page has language links at the bottom. Pick 简体中文 or 繁體中文 and you land on the same page in that language. The English site stays where it always was, so Solitaire is still at /solitaire.
This blog, the About page and the Privacy page stay in English for now.
